Prior to joining Richmond Chambers, Marika worked as a research assistant at the Law Commission of England and Wales, assisting in the drafting of legislative instructions for the Office of Parliamentary Counsel. She has also conducted research as a self-employed consultant and as a member of the Cambridge Pro Bono Research Panel, in relation to natural justice and anti-trafficking laws, respectively.
Marika first developed an interest in immigration and asylum law through volunteering with Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers, and with Jugendmigrationsdienst in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. These roles required her to work in French and German, and have inspired her to continue learning new languages. Marika is currently learning Levantine Arabic.
