Interest in the UK Tier 1 (Investor) visa peaks again
Three years on from the increase in the investment funds requirement from £1 million to £2 million and interest in the Tier 1 (Investor) visa category is on the rise again.
Figures released by the Office for National Statistics today reveal that a total of 114 Tier 1 (Investors) visas were granted during the period from July to September 2017. This represents the third successive quarterly increase.
From just 61 successful Tier 1 (Investor) visa applications in the last quarter of 2016, the first quarter of 2017 saw 75 new visas granted in the Tier 1 (Investor) visa category. This figure rose again to 85 successful UK Investor visa applications in the second quarter of 2017, before reaching the new high of 114 successful applications for entry clearance as a Tier 1 (Investor) in the third quarter of 2017.
China continued to be the source of the greatest number of Tier 1 Investors entering the UK during the period from July to September 2017 (39), with citizens of Russia (13), Hong Kong (10), USA (6) and Turkey (5) also joining the top 5 countries generating inward investment into the UK via the Tier 1 (Investor) visa route.
High net worth migrants continue to have many options worldwide, but with the latest statistics demonstrating a 75% increase in Investor visas granted since the last quarter of 2016, it is clear that the UK remains a destination of choice for investment migration.
