UK Tier 1 Investor Visa Sees 28% Year-On-Year Growth
Figures released by the Home Office today reveal that a total of 96 Tier 1 Investor visas were issued by UK Visas & Immigration during the period from 1 January to 31 March 2018.
This represents an 18.5% increase in successful Tier 1 Investor visa applications compared with the previous quarter and a 28% increase on the number of Investor visas approved during the same period in 2017.
Citizens of China and its Special Administrative Regions continue to show the most interest in the UK investor visa route, accounting for 41% of all Tier 1 Investor visas granted during the first quarter of 2018.
In contrast, the number of Russian citizens securing Tier 1 Investor visas has halved, with just 8 Russian nationals obtaining UK investor visas in the same period. This is likely to be a consequence of both heightened sanctions on Russia and publicity surrounding the delayed processing of investor visa applications by Russian nationals.
Interestingly, the number of Tier 1 Investor visa applications approved for citizens of India also stood at 8 during the first quarter of 2018, placing India in the top five countries of origin. Historically a major source of Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa applications, the complexity of the Entrepreneur route may now be causing wealthy Indians to look to the Tier 1 Investor visa route to settlement in the UK instead.
