Richmond Chambers welcomes four new members to our Immigration Team

We are delighted to announce that four new immigration practitioners have joined the immigration team at Richmond Chambers.

Tanya Murshed was called to the Bar in 2006. Tanya is an experienced immigration barrister who acts in all areas of immigration, nationality and asylum law appearing before the Immigration and Asylum Chamber (First-tier and Upper Tribunal), High Court and Court of Appeal. She regularly advises on Judicial Review matters and often prepares emergency applications for injunctive relief at short notice. Tanya has extensive experience of working with refugees having previously worked for The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture (Freedom from Torture) and the Refugee Section of Amnesty International.

Zoe Jacob was called to the Bar in 2010. Since commencing practice as a fully qualified immigration barrister, she has acted on behalf of the Home Office in numerous immigration appeals before the First Tier Tribunal and also drafted summary grounds of defence in Judicial Review cases in the High Court. At Richmond Chambers, Zoe focusses primarily on assisting applicants to prepare successful applications for entry to, and leave to remain in, the UK and representing appellants in proceedings before the Immigration Tribunal and higher courts.

Peter Blackwood was introduced to immigration law at a specialist solicitor’s practice, where he gained experience of preparing and instructing cases in the High Court and Court of Appeal. He subsequently spent three years as a Level 3 OISC accredited Senior Immigration Adviser, representing clients across the full range of immigration, EEA and nationality law and frequently appeared before the First-tier and Upper Tribunals in substantive appeal hearings. Having completed the Bar Professional Training Course and joined Richmond Chambers, Peter is keen to develop his immigration practice further and to assist the immigration barristers in Chambers with all their specialist areas.

Sophia Xiang is originally from China and is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese. Sophia holds a Chinese law degree and an LL.M in International Business Law from the University of Leeds.
